In memoriam (March 2018)

Arlene Louise Barkheim, 89, passed away Jan. 27, in Winona. Her career began as an Extension home economist in Goodhue County, and she later worked as the assistant state 4-H leader for southeastern Minnesota. In 1972, she was appointed as the district Extension director for northwestern Minnesota, being the first woman serving in this role.

Kenneth Edward Egertson was a retired professor emeritus of agricultural economics. During his University career, in addition to teaching and Extension work, Ken participated in international projects in Belize, Indonesia, Bulgaria and Dominica. He passed away Jan. 1, age 86, in Story City, Iowa.

Raymond Stanley Norrgard, Baxter, passed away on Jan. 1, 2017, age 95. After receiving an agriculture degree from the University, Ray worked as a county Extension agent in Brainerd.

John Puckropp, Sr. worked as a Ramsey County Extension director after a decorated 26-year career in the Air Force. He passed away Feb. 6., age 79 years, in Baxter.

William Seabloom, age 88, passed away on Jan. 21 in Shoreview. Bill held positions as an associate professor and psychotherapist at the University and provided many contributions to the International 4-H Youth Exchange program.

William Sliney passed away Aug. 19, 2017, in Bemidji. Bill graduated from the University with a degree in forestry. In 1952, he began working with Extension in Park Rapids. He later transferred to Bemidji and worked until retirement in 1981. He was 93.
